QPR® 50lb 6690 Hot-Applied Crack Sealant is a flexible, rubber-like commercial grade product that is used to repair cracks of any length or width in asphalt pavements. It starts out as a solid, rubber block which is then melted in a special kettle and is heated to 375 degrees F. Once melted, the crack filler is applied to the cracks. The crack filler hardens up deep inside the crack, sealing out moisture from penetrating the asphalt. This prevents it from causing further crack development and promotes a long lasting repair and an attractive appearance.
Why isn’t the QPR® 50lb 6690 Hot-Applied Crack Sealant completely hardened?
After QPR® 50lb 6690 Hot-Applied Crack Sealant has been applied and allowed to cool, it is designed to remain flexible, allowing it to expand and contract with the outside air climate. It is normal for this type of material to flex to the touch. It will also temporarily retain car tire treads if parked on.
Some of the QPR® 50lb 6690 Hot-Applied Crack Sealant pulled up! What should I do?
If you park directly on top of QPR® 50lb 6690 Hot-Applied Crack Sealant with hot tires after a prolonged drive at highway speeds may cause the crack filler to pull up. Hot tires can re-heat the crack filler, causing it to adhere to the tire when it cools. A small portion of the hot pour crack filler is pulled up with the tire when the vehicle is later moved. It is best to not park on the crack filler when the tires are hot.
How soon can pavement sealer be applied to the QPR® 50lb 6690 Hot-Applied Crack Sealant?
Almost immediately! Pavement sealer can be applied to QPR® 50lb 6690 Hot-Applied Crack Sealant within 5-10 minutes.
Is the QPR® 50lb 6690 Hot-Applied Crack Sealant visible through the seal coat?
The texture of the crack filler is smoother than the texture of the asphalt causing it to be visible through the seal coat. This is unavoidable if you want your driveway protected.
